Welcome to www.dolowcarb.com.
I started this page in January of 2004 as a way to share the research that helped me decide to change to a Low Carb lifestyle. On the way, hopefully I can share some tips for you if you decide Low Carb is the right decision for you. When I talk to people about my decision, it can be difficult to get the whole concept across, and even more difficult to explain the research that brought me to this decision in a few minute or even few hour conversation. Carbohydrates, Diabetes, Weight, Blood Lipids and their relationships to each other are at best, complex and difficult to explain. When you add all the contrary information from the American Diabetes Association, American Medical Association, American Dieticians Association, your doctor, your dietician (if your Doctor sends you to one), plus all the "facts" that are "common knowledge", deciding if a Low Carb lifestyle is the proper thing for you to do can be very challenging.
As you are processing all the information from all the various sources. Be suspect of anything that is "common knowledge". Do your own research and reach your own conclusions using your own laboratory. Your body serves as the best laboratory you have access to. See what your current way of doing things is doing for you. Then, if you chose, try a low carb lifestyle and see what results that gives you. If you have a lot of weight to lose, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and any of the other metabolic related problems, it should be easy for you to take your weight, blood pressure, latest lab results, and your general feeling of wellness (or lack thereof) and directly compare your results after spending a few months "doing low carb".
Hopefully, these pages will help you make your decision, and if you decide to do low carb, help you along that path.
